Scout Troop Badge Programs

If you would like to set up an educational program, call 412.793.6900 or E-mail Tammy Frech.

Girl Scout Wildlife badge

This two hour program fulfills the requirements for the Girl Scout Wildlife badge. Six sections are covered.

It’s All in the Details: Scouts record their observations by creating detailed drawings.
Creature Feature: Scouts learn to distinguish different bird beaks and identify the bird diet by its shape.
We are Family: Scouts will identify the similarities and differences between reptiles and amphibians.
Touch Me Not: Scouts will identify Pennsylvania’s three venomous snakes.
Staying Alive: Scouts will learn about one endangered bird from our area.
Animal Watcher: Scouts will learn to use field markings, behavior and calls to identify native birds.

Because of the number of animals that are used in this program, it can only be presented at our Penn Hills location. Up to 30 Scouts can be accommodated in our Habitat building. The $150 program fee includes a tour of the Menagerie where our education animals live. The Wildlife badge is not included.

**Interested in sharing the cost with another small troop? We are considering scheduling a Badge Day so that scouts from different troops may share the expense of this program. Please send an email to Tammy Frech if you would like to know more about this option.
