Sylvester, Pekin Duck: Sylvester was brought to the Wildlife Center on October 10, 2002. He and his mate were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. His mate did not live to see the WC. Sylvester was treated for Pneumonia and emaciation. He is used for education. Facts on Pekin Ducks: Pekin Ducks live for 10-25 years in captivity. They eat duck food, cracked corn, and greens. Pekin Ducks can be purchased from a breeder as pets. They are the same species as “wild” mallards, and were bred to be used as food and pets.
