Sid, Turkey Vulture: Sid was brought to the Wildlife Center on May 8, 2003. He had been suffering from a dislocated shoulder, which resulted from getting hit by a car. His shoulder tendons could not be rehabilitated. Vincent, Turkey Vulture: Vincent found his way to the Center in the summer of 2003. Efforts to capture him spanned over a two week period. He had taken up residence on the golf course at Long Vue Country Club in Verona. Once he was caught, it was ascertained that he had an old fracture to his wing that rendered him flightless. Facts on Turkey Vultures: Turkey Vultures live 20 years in the wild. They can be seen soaring in the sky in lowlands, mountains, and residential areas. These are the only birds in North America that have a keen sense of smell. They use this sense to find their food, carrion. A female Turkey Vulture makes her nest in a cave.
