Mario, Domestic Striped Skunk:  Mario became part of the Wildlife Center on November 11, 2002.  He was purchased from a breeder. The PWC must use a domestic skunk that is at least seven generations out of the wild in order to assure that it is rabies free. Domestic skunks can live from 3-6 years. Mario eats dog chow, fruits, and vegetables.

Facts on Wild Skunks: Wild skunks can be found in open country, bush lands, parks, and neighborhoods. They eat rodents, eggs, birds, acorns, fruits, and insects. 70% of the insects they eat are harmful to humans.
